Help us win Environmental Justice in Dallas NOW.
In the 1980s, the City of Dallas forced the closure of three lead smelters in West Dallas and East Oak Cliff because they were a danger to public health, poisoning residents.
In 2025, it’s time to close two 80-year-old asphalt shingle factories still operating in Communities of Color in Central Dallas: GAF in West Dallas and TAMKO in Joppa.
In 2025, Asphalt is the new Lead.
Now What?
BOTH factories have been classified by the City as “NON CONFORMING” businesses that have the wrong zoning and should be closed. But the City hasn’t followed through with action to close them.
We are.
Join us in pressuring the City of Dallas to activate the Nonconforming Use Fund (NCUF) in the 2025 City Budget Cycle.
